Caroline Cossey (Tula)

Occasionally, a transsexual actress appears in a so-called legitimate film. For example, Caroline Cossey appeared in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only (1981), in which she was one of the pool girls. Born Barry Cossey in 1954, in Brooke, Norfolk, England, she began her transformation in 1972, completing the process by undergoing sex reassignment surgery two years later, whereupon she took the name Tula and began to work as a model after dancing topless in Paris burlesque clubs. She tells her story in two autobiographies, Tula: I Am a Woman (1982) and My Story (1991). Following her film debut, she was outed as a transsexual, which, initially, had an adverse effect on her modeling career. She is married to her third husband, David Finch, in Atlanta, Georgia. Her first two marriages were to Count Glauco and Elias Fattal, respectively.
